This volume is Amati’s treatise on the rules of light and dark (chiaroscuro) in regards to the architectural elements and prospects of classical buildings. Amati was a pupil of Pollak and the Zanoia and taught elements of architecture at the Brera Academy in 1798 and from 1805 to 1817. His architectural works include the completion of the facade of the Duomo of Milan and the building of the roundabout of St. Charles Borromeo in Milan, inspired by the Pantheon.
