Robert Bear was excommunicated for questioning the Church hierarchy.  This led to his wife and children being separated from him and for Bear to be shunned.  Bear began a lifetime crusade against the Reformed Mennonite Church, which resulted in this book.  In 2017, a 87 year old Bear was convicted of church vandalism for gluing posters in front of the Middlesex Reformed Mennonite Church of Carlisle, PA and disrupting Church services.  Subsequently, one of Bear's 6 children wrote "From Plain to Plane" about the trauma her family underwent from her father and her decision to leave the church.  A complicated story from Cumberland County, PA.
