Contemporary boards rebacked on later leather spine.  Marbled end sheets. Solid binding.   Internally, generally good, with limited spotting, mostly to plates. 12 folding plates.  The plates have some foxing. Plate 9 has a closed tear near the anchor that has been restored.  19th century signature and blind stamp of "William Grain" Gresham House, London, on dedication page. 

First printed in 1769, Falconer's Dictionary of the Marine is an important historical reference for the Royal Navy and British shipping in the 18th century.
