William Petty-FitzMaurice, 1st Marquess of Lansdowne, Earl of Shelburne, was an Irish-born British Whig statesman who was the first Home Secretary in 1782 and Prime Minister 1782-1783 during the final months of the American War of Independence. This volume addresses the many criticisms he received from the leadership of the Opposition Coalition during the Fox-North coalition in 1783. ESTCN526
