[A Presentation copy of a handwritten translation of the Greek classics by a Cambridge student] 2 volume set. Bound in contemporary goat, over marbled boards. Gilt ruled. Good bindings and covers.  Pages are clean.  More than 400 pages. 

The English translations of Greek classics by Robert Machell at Cambridge (and Scotland).  The earliest date in the books begin in 1815.  Includes a presentation inscription from Machell on Oct. 1834, and various signatures by him.  Includes an ink drawing of Cambridge on the rear end page and a large drawing of a man in a suit on the presentation page.  The author is presumed to be the Rev. Robert Machell (1796-1860) of Bevelery, Yorkshire, England; who died in Marton, Yorks.  Later bookplate of Lionel Cresswell (M.P., of the Middle Temple and Burley in Wharfedale, Esq.)
