Modern leather spine label, front board rehinged.[8], 44 [4]; 404, 407-506 pp. [14] 2 plates, 24 in text engraved maps and charts, 32 plans of fortified towns).   Minor toning. Minor corrosion to margins of first several pages. Dampstaining to England, Scotland and part of the Ireland chapters, affecting engravings. The map of the Americas on page 473 shows California as an island. Contemporary printer error to America map where the Chapter title and section head has been printed onto the map (see picture) Provenance: Armorial bookplate of Edward Parker of Browsholme. 

"Some of the maps carry Moll's signature and it is probable that the general map is also by him. It consists of two small hemispheres and a north polar projection beneath a broad banner carrying the title" (Shirley).
