Janney Family Bible (Bucks Co. PA).  Philadelphia: Matthew Carey, 1812.  Thick quarto.  Bound in contemporary full leather.  6 spine compartments. Cover wear. Front board detached.  25 plates called for.  2 fold out maps.  Scattered spotting / browning (pressed flower stains).The first page of genesis has a tear, which has been hand-sewn by a delicate hand.  [4], 834, [2], [835]-1080, 62, 40 pages, [25] leaves of plates : illustrations, maps (some folded) ; 28 cm.  The Family record (leaves [677-680]) give marriage, birth, death records starting 1792 for Jacob Janney (son of Richard and Sarah Janney) and Francis Briggs (daughter of John and Letitia Briggs).  Later records include Thomas Janney and Mary Kimber.  Records are very extensive and in an exceptionally clear hand.  The last death records are for Mary C. Janney (1896) and Anna M. Bergner, wife of Otto Bergner and daughter of Thomas & Mary K. Janney (1904).  Most of the records are from Newton, PA, Bucks Co.  Includes various Janney related ephemera (news clippings).  The Janney's were Quakers who were descended from Thomas Janney of England who came to Bucks Co in 1682.  Wrightstown Meeting is mentioned in the notes.  For more information about the Janney family who owned this bible see: Davis, William W.H., A.M., History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania [New York-Chicago:The Lewis Publishing Company, 1905] Volume III.
