Louis Hue Girardin (1771–1825) was a French royalist who fled to America to avoid the ravages of the French Revolution.  Girardin taught modern languages, history, and geography at the College of William and Mary and became a correspondent and friend of Thomas Jefferson.  Girardin helped Jefferson respond to John Marshall's book with his work on the fourth volume of a History of Virginia.
