Bound in modern 3/4 leather over original brown boards. Rebacked. Large Corcoran Gallery leather cover label on front.  Rebacked. 39 cm.  Lovely chromolithographic plates.  N.P. Printed circa 1860s-1870s.  (Athenaeum states 186-?, LOC states 1870).  (Note: The Library of Congress copy has plates 15-53: ours is 15-60).    Geometrical and Roman mosaics, encaustic tile pavements, and enameled wall decorations  Includes designs by Leighton, Bros.; G. Goldie; G.E. Street; J.F. Seddon; and an arrangement by Lord Alwyne Compton.

Early Corcoran Gallery of Art book plate, signed by donor, "Presented by Mr. Edward Clark."   Edward Clark was a noted American architect, who served as Architect of the Capitol from 1865 to 1902.  He completed the Capitol extension project in 1868.  Clark was a close friend of William Wilson Corcoran, who founded the Corcoran Gallery of Art and sat on the Corcoran Gallery's board.  

From the estate of Jim Graham, former Washington D.C. City Council Member (1998-2014). Graham was head of Whitman-Walker Clinic (1984-1999) and a noted gay community pioneer.
