Our Summer in the Vale of Kashmir

DENYS, F. Ward

James William Bryan Press, 1915

Bound in publisher's cloth, with gold lettering and decoration. Hardcover.  Good binding and cover. Clean, unmarked pages. 232 pages; 23 cm.  A travelogue by An American spending time in Kashmir, a valley in northern India bounded on the southwest by the Pir Panjal Range and on the northeast by the main Himalayas range. A delightful look at the people, economy, social habits and culture of this British Crown colony during the second year of the Great War, a fact which ironically does not intrude on this American's holiday fancies. The area covered is now disputed territory and one of the principal areas of contention between India and Pakistan.
