All edges marbled. 21 cm.  Marbled end pages.  Armorial bookplate of John Sheepshanks, 1852,  "Perseverando".  The crest  features a lamb atop a shield with a decorative frame, three rosettes, seven arrow forms, and a smaller lamb.    Sheepshanks (1787-1863), British industrialist and art collector.  Additional bookplate of W.G. Bowdoin.  William Goodrich Bowdoin (1860-1947) wrote a number of books on bookplates and literature.
