Maratti is notable for discovering and identifying a number of previously unknown plant species. Maurizio Benedetto Olivieri published Maratti's treatise posthumously.   Olivieri had accidentally come into possession of the manuscript draft bought by a bookseller, which had not been printed before the botanist's death. Olivieri fused Maratti's treatises on the native flora of Lazio and with the flora of the botanical garden.  The description of the plants is based on the systems of Rivinus (A. Bachmann), of GP Tournefort and of C. Linnaeus.    Botany -- Italy.    This book was sold in the 5 June 1997 Christie's Sale 8009, Lot 435.  Ref: Stafleu & Cowan TL2 5374.
